What a page looks like

One puzzle a page, and room for the pen.

These are real pages out of three of the files, not mockups. Each is puzzle 250, from the hard third of its book, so you can see the largest grids before you pay rather than the easiest.

Page 253 of the Killer Sudoku book: a 9 by 9 grid with dashed cages and their sums, the heading Badgers 250 Hard, and Solution and Contents links at the top right
Killer Sudoku, puzzle 250 of 300.
Page 253 of the Nonograms book: a 12 by 12 grid with the run lengths printed above the columns and beside the rows
Nonograms, puzzle 250 of 300.
Page 253 of the Slitherlink book: a 7 by 7 field of dots with numbers between them
Slitherlink, puzzle 250 of 300.

The page is 157 x 210 mm, the 3:4 proportion of the readers listed below, so it fills the screen without zooming and without grey bars at the sides. One puzzle to a page, no print margins and no page numbers, with high contrast lines and cells large enough to write in with the pen.

At the top of every puzzle page sit two links, Solution and Contents. At the back of the book every solution links back to its puzzle. That is the whole navigation: from anywhere you are two taps from any of the 300 puzzles.

The ten books

One kind of puzzle in each.

Every book is 300 puzzles and 379 pages: 100 easy, 100 medium and 100 hard, in that order, then all 300 solutions. Each of them is also sold on its own for 4.90 €.

The same ten kinds have a free daily puzzle in the browser at daily games, with hints that explain the reasoning rather than filling in the answer. If you want to know which kind you like before you pay 12.90 €, that is the cheapest way to find out.

The files

Four archives, ten books, 68.29 MB.

Ten books come to 68.29 MB, so they travel in four ZIP archives, each of them under 20 MB. That is the cap a single file may have on Etsy, where this bundle is going next, and here it also means a download that drops does not cost you all ten books. Each archive holds whole books, so the first one is already useful while the rest arrive.

To get a book on your device, download the archive on a computer or phone, unzip it, and copy the PDF to your reader the way you normally add a book: the reMarkable desktop or mobile app, Send to Kindle for the Scribe, a USB cable and the device folder for Boox, or the upload page of a Supernote. Nothing is installed and no account of ours is needed.

The free sample is the first ten pages of the Star Battle book: the cover, the page that explains the rules, the contents page and the first seven puzzles. It was cut out of the finished file with the same tool that measures the books, so the pages are the pages. The links that point inside those ten pages were put back and work, 14 of them; the Solution links, which point to page 303 of the full book, are not in the sample, because they would lead nowhere.

What is not verified

No physical device, and no form fields.

Every number on this page is measured in the finished PDF files by our check script: puzzles, pages, links, file sizes, the sha256 of every archive. What we have not done is open one of these files on a reMarkable, a Kindle Scribe, a Boox or a Supernote and solve a puzzle on it with a pen. Nobody here owns one. That is what the free sample is for: same page size, same grids, same kind of links.

The second thing worth saying plainly: these ten books carry no PDF form fields. The script counts 0 in all ten files. On an e-ink tablet that changes nothing, because you write over the page in the reader's own pen layer, which is how people solve puzzles on these devices anyway. On a computer it means there is no box to type a number into. Our reading titles do have form fields; these puzzle books, which were built earlier, do not.

Questions

Before you buy.

Which devices are these made for?

The pages are 157 x 210 mm, the 3:4 proportion of the reMarkable 2, reMarkable Paper Pro, Kindle Scribe, Boox Note Air and Supernote A5 X2, so a page fills the screen without zooming. We have not opened the files on a physical device: the sample of ten pages is free, so you can try it on yours before you buy.

Can I write in the files with the pen?

You write on the page with your reader's own pen layer, the way you write on any PDF. These ten books carry no PDF form fields: the check script counts 0 of them in all ten files, and we would rather say so than let you find out. Solving with the pen is what they are made for, the cells are large and the lines are high contrast, but nothing in them is a typed box on a computer.

Why four ZIP files?

The ten PDF files come to 68.29 MB. They are split into four archives of 18.81, 19.02, 19.61 and 10.84 MB, each under the 20 MB that a single file may have on Etsy, where this bundle is going next, and so that a download that drops does not cost you all ten books. Every archive holds whole books, so you can start on the first one while the rest arrive.

Is this cheaper than buying the books one at a time?

Yes. These are the same ten books that are sold separately at 4.90 € each, so one at a time they come to 49 €. The bundle is 12.90 €, which is 36.10 € less, and it is the whole shelf rather than a choice of one puzzle kind.

The ten single books are on our Etsy shop. This bundle is only here for now.

Are these the same as the printable puzzle books?

No, they are a different set of files. The printable books hold 100 puzzles each, are sized for A4 and US Letter and are meant for paper. These ten hold 300 puzzles each, are sized 157 x 210 mm for a screen and have no printing margins. The puzzles in them are not the same puzzles.

How is the download protected?

By an unguessable address and nothing more. The files sit on ordinary static hosting under a folder name of 16 random characters, and after the payment this page shows you that address. Anyone who is given the address can open it, so it is not a lock. We say so here rather than pretend otherwise.

The unlock is remembered in this browser, so you can come back to this page later on the same device and the links are still here. Clearing the site data of this browser forgets it; keep the files once you have downloaded them.

Do I get a receipt?

Yes. Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. is the merchant of record: you buy from Stripe, which collects the payment, issues the receipt with VAT and settles the VAT, and ARLing supplies the files. If you are buying for a company, enter your VAT number in the checkout and the document is made out to the company.

Can I get my money back?

By law, no, and we would rather say it before you pay. Digital content delivered immediately with your consent carries no right of withdrawal: in Slovakia that is section 19 paragraph 1 letter m) of Act No. 108/2024 Coll. on consumer protection, and across the EU Article 16 letter m) of Directive 2011/83/EU. Clicking the payment button is that consent, because the files are shown at once.

That is the law, not our customer service. The sample is free precisely so you can decide before paying. If a file is broken or never arrived, write to andrej@arling.sk and we will fix it or send the money back, because that is a different thing from changing your mind.
