  • Pricing: Up to 50 recipes: ingredients, work, overhead, packaging, cost per batch and per piece, price for target margin, profit and margin at your price.
  • Compare: Recipes with your price ranked by margin, with bars.
  • Recipes: Up to 600 ingredient lines with the cost of each line and a check.
  • Ingredients: Up to 200 ingredients with pack size, unit and price.
  • Settings: Currency, hourly rate, overhead percent, target margin, and the unit table.

How it works

  • Ingredients: pack size, unit and price. Cost per 100 g, per 100 ml or per piece is calculated.
  • Recipes: amounts in g, kg, oz, lb, ml, l, tsp, tbsp, fl oz, cup, gal or each. Weight converts to weight and volume to volume.
  • Pricing: ingredients, work (minutes x your hourly rate), overhead (% of ingredient cost) and packaging give the cost per batch and per piece.
  • Price for your target margin = cost per piece / (1 - margin). Type your own price to see profit per piece and margin.
  • Compare ranks your recipes by margin. Check marks a line that cannot be priced, for example flour bought by weight but used in cups.

Works in

Microsoft Excel 2016 or newer (tested on Windows). No macros, no add ins, no account. Not tested: Excel for Mac, Excel for the web, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, phone and tablet apps.

How we test it

Before release both files are opened, recalculated and saved in Microsoft Excel. The sample file has 4,594 formula cells and none shows an error; 1,891 calculated cells were compared with a separate calculation written in Python and all matched, in the sample file and in the empty file. The pictures in this listing are printed from the sample file by Excel.

Good to know

  • Weight and volume are not converted into each other (a cup of flour and a cup of honey weigh differently).
  • It does not include marketplace fees, shipping or taxes.
  • Text and labels are in English.

How do I get the files?

No physical item is shipped. After Etsy confirms payment, download your files from Purchases and reviews on Etsy.com in a web browser; downloads are unavailable in the Etsy app. Guest buyers can use the download link in their Etsy receipt email.
