  • Start here: the steps, with a link to every sheet
  • Dashboard: Total budget, spent, left, still to buy, gift counts, table and chart by group, Data check.
  • Setup: Season name, currency symbol, total budget, shopping deadline and days left.
  • People: Up to 60 people with group and budget. Planned, spent, left and status per person.
  • Gifts: Up to 200 gifts: person, idea, store or link, price, Bought, Wrapped, Delivered, status.
  • Extras: Up to 40 extra costs in 8 categories with budget and spent.

How it works

  • Spent counts gifts marked Bought plus the Spent column on Extras. Still to buy adds up the ideas not bought yet.
  • Each person shows Planned, Spent, Left and a status: No gift yet, Shopping, All bought, Delivered, Ideas over budget or Over budget.
  • Dashboard: total budget, spent, left, still to buy, gift counts, a table and chart by group (Family, Friends, Kids, Work, Other, Extras). The table also shows the part of the total budget not given to any group, so its Left matches the Left at the top.
  • Data check finds a gift for a name that is not on People, a bought gift without a price, a name typed twice and people over budget.
  • Any currency: type your symbol on Setup and the column titles show it.

Works in

Microsoft Excel 2016 or newer (tested on Windows). No macros, no add ins, no account. Not tested: Excel for Mac, Excel for the web, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, phone and tablet apps.

How we test it

Before release both files are opened, recalculated and saved in Microsoft Excel. The sample file has 813 formula cells and none shows an error; 748 calculated cells were compared with a separate calculation written in Python and all matched, in the sample file and in the empty file. The pictures in this listing are printed from the sample file by Excel.

Before you buy.

How do I get the files?

No physical item is shipped. After Etsy confirms payment, download your files from Purchases and reviews on Etsy.com in a web browser; downloads are unavailable in the Etsy app. Guest buyers can use the download link in their Etsy receipt email.

Which files do I get?
