Deduction Logic Puzzle Book

The rules

• A family of foxes shares one lair, split into named chambers. Something has gone missing.
• Every row and every column holds exactly one piece: a fox or the lost thing. Nobody stands on a stone.
• Every clue is true. Together with these rules, the clues leave exactly one way to place everyone.
• The lost thing always shares its chamber with exactly one fox, and that fox has it. Use this as a clue too: in some lairs it decides where a fox stands.

• 50 puzzles, one per page, each with a floor plan, the family list and 5 to 13 clues
• Easy: 15 lairs, 5 x 5 with four foxes
• Medium: 20 lairs, 6 x 6 with five foxes
• Hard: 15 lairs, 7 x 7 with six foxes

How the puzzles are made

Our program builds every puzzle and keeps it only if it can be solved step by step without guessing. A second, separate program then counts the solutions: each puzzle in this book has exactly one. Easy clues can be used one at a time; Medium and Hard puzzles add clues that link two foxes. The puzzles were made for this book.

Printing

Print at 100% / Actual size. The floor marks (moss, roots, leaves) are in colour, and the legend on every page names them, so black and white printing works too. You may print as many copies as you need for yourself, your family or your classroom. Please do not share or resell the file.
