The quotes

Every quote is copied word for word from public domain texts (sources listed in the book): The Raven, Annabel Lee, Eldorado, The Gold-Bug, The Fall of the House of Usher and more by Poe; The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving; Frankenstein by Mary Shelley; and Dracula by Bram Stoker. We chose lines about autumn, night, dreams and courage, and left out gory passages. Some quotes are part of a longer sentence.

How it works

Each letter of the quote is swapped for another letter, and the swap stays the same across the whole puzzle. No letter stands for itself. Spaces and punctuation are kept, which gives you word lengths and patterns to work from.

Adults and teens who like word puzzles and classic literature, book clubs and English classes in October. Text is in English.

Printing

Print at 100% / Actual size. Black ink is enough; the given letters and a few headings are red. You may print as many copies as you need for yourself, your family or your classroom. Please do not share or resell the file.

How do I get the files?

No physical book is shipped. After Etsy confirms payment, download your files from Purchases and reviews on Etsy.com in a web browser; downloads are unavailable in the Etsy app. Guest buyers can use the download link in their Etsy receipt email.

Which files do I get?
