What Quiet Grids does with your data.

The game itself sends us nothing. Your coins, your streak, your finished puzzles, your best times and the board you are halfway through are stored on your phone and nowhere else. The game does show adverts, and the advert library is Google's. That library does collect data, and this page says exactly what.

This policy covers the Android game only. The privacy policy for arling.sk covers the website and is a separate document.

Accounts: There are none. You never sign in and we never learn who you are.
Our servers: The game never contacts a server of ours. There is no such server.
Advertising: Google Mobile Ads and Google's consent form, and nothing else.
Purchases: None in this version. Coins are earned by playing.

2What stays on your phone

Coins, which papers and pens you own and which of them you chose, your streak and any rest day in hand, how many puzzles of each kind you have finished, how many you finished without Check or Hint, your best time for each kind at each level, the boards you have started and the time you have spent on them, and your settings. All of it lives in the app's own storage and is removed when you uninstall the game. Android backup is switched off for this app, so it is not copied to a cloud account either. We never see any of it.

The game also counts how many boards you have finished, when it last showed a full screen advert, how many it has shown today and the day you installed it. Those counters exist so that there are fewer adverts, not more, and they stay on your phone too.

The game has no account, no cloud save, no chat and no leaderboard. It does not read your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera or location.

Two things in the installed app's permission list are worth explaining. The billing permission is there because Google's purchase library is compiled into the app for a later version; in this version buying is switched off, the shop screen shows its prices with a line saying the till is not open, and nothing can start a payment. The advertising library adds permissions of its own, among them the one for the Android advertising ID. Neither changes anything above: the game itself still sends nothing.

3What Google's advert library collects

Quiet Grids uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show adverts and the Google User Messaging Platform to ask for and record your consent where the law requires it. These two libraries are the only reason the app uses the internet. They are Google's software, running inside the app, and what they collect goes to Google, not to us.

Google's own disclosure for this SDK lists four things it may collect: your IP address, which Google may use to estimate the general area you are in; your interactions with the app, such as launches, taps and video views; diagnostic information, such as start-up time, hangs and energy use; and identifiers of the device or account, including the Android advertising ID and the app set ID. Google says this traffic is encrypted in transit. Google uses it for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention.

The source is Google's page Data disclosure for the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Google's own privacy policy and its page on how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services describe what happens afterwards. We do not receive this data ourselves and we cannot delete it for you.

4Your choices

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, a consent form appears the first time the game starts, and you can change your answer at any time: open More and choose Privacy choices. Outside those regions no consent form is shown to you, and adverts are requested without it.

Watching an advert is always something you choose. The optional advert that pays coins, doubles what a board paid or puts a rest day in your hand is always a button you press. A full screen advert can appear only after you finish a board from the archive and ask to leave it: never while you are solving, never when the game starts, and never after the puzzle of the day.

You can also reset or delete the advertising ID for the whole phone in Android's own settings, under Privacy and then Ads.

5Children

Quiet Grids is not directed at children. In the store it is listed for players of thirteen and over, and it asks the advert library for content rated PG at most.

6Legal basis and how long things are kept

Where consent is required for advertising, our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in More, Privacy choices. The local data described above is kept on your device until you delete it or uninstall the game. Google's retention of the data its library collects is described in Google's own privacy policy.

If you write to us by e-mail, we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to deal with it and to meet any legal obligation that applies.

7Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, to object to processing and to complain to a supervisory authority. In Slovakia that is the Office for Personal Data Protection, at dataprotection.gov.sk. Since the game keeps its data on your phone and sends us none, the quickest way to delete everything is to uninstall the app. For anything else, write to support@arling.sk and we will answer.
