What the film shows.
- A phone lies flat between two players. The screen is split in half and the top half is turned around, so it faces the player opposite. Both halves have just flashed white, with a pad at each player's edge: orange with a circle at the bottom, blue with a diamond and diagonal stripes at the top. The orange thumb was quicker: the bottom half glows orange with Lightning thumbs! and 231 milliseconds, the top half is dimmed and reads Just a blink late, upside down for the player opposite. A plus one flies into the orange score dot. The name Duel and the lines: One phone. Two thumbs. 27 mini-games. Plays offline.
- The phone grows to fill the frame. Lay the phone flat between you.
- The next game, Odd One Out. Orange is on match point. Three starting lights and Go. Both halves get the same round: nine arrows, one of them pointing a different way.
- The orange thumb hesitates and taps a wrong arrow while the blue thumb is still on its way. A wrong tap gives the point away: the blue half lights up, the right arrow is ringed in green on both halves and the wrong one is crossed out in red. Look first, tap second. Cool as ice. One all.
- Decider! Bigger Circle: a green and a purple circle. The orange thumb taps the bigger one first. Nailed it! 580 milliseconds. Almost! 27 quick games for two players.
- The match result: Winner and 2 : 1 on the orange half, So close and 1 : 2 on the blue half, a Rematch button for each of them and confetti. Duel. One phone. Two thumbs. 27 mini-games. Plays offline. Coming soon to Google Play. arling.sk
Everything on the phone comes from the game's own code: the night table colours, the orange circle and the blue striped diamond of the two players, the icons, the Nunito font, the score dots, the three starting lights, the moment a round is decided, the round lines and the three sounds. The two thumbs, the order of the rounds and the positions of the arrows and circles are ours; the rules they follow are the game's. The film shortens the pauses between rounds and leaves out the short demo each game plays before its first round.
About Duel.
Duel: 2 Player Party Games is our game for Android for two people and one phone. Lay the phone flat between you and the screen splits in half, the top half turned around for the player opposite. You each get one half and one thumb, both halves are dealt the same round, and a match is first to two, three or five won rounds across 27 mini-games of reflex, attention, sharp eyes, memory, timing and thinking. It plays offline, needs no account and has nothing to buy. It contains ads, never during a round: at most one full-screen ad when you leave a finished match, and two optional ones you choose to watch.
Duel is coming soon to Google Play. It is not in the store yet, so there is no store link on this page. Its privacy policy is already published. Until then, our free daily logic puzzles run in your browser today.
How the film is made.
There is no video file on this page. Every frame is drawn on a canvas by a small script, and every sound, from the first chord to the chime at the end, is synthesised by Web Audio in your browser after you tap. The game's own three sounds are rebuilt from the same recipe that made them, a sine with a soft octave that fades out, played at the same pitches the game uses. No screen recording, no photo, no picture generator. The same script renders the film frame by frame into videos for YouTube and Instagram.
It is built to be light: what does not move is drawn once and reused, the film stops when it ends, when you scroll away or switch tabs, and it shows a still picture if your device asks for reduced motion. The Nunito font is used under the SIL Open Font License. Questions: andrej@arling.sk.
Our anonymous statistics (self-hosted Umami) count the page visit and whether the film was started, replayed or its coming soon line was clicked. Nothing else.
