What is inside

Four chapters, twenty puzzles each.

The book holds 80 puzzles in four chapters. Inside every chapter the puzzles go from easy to hard, and all 80 solutions are at the back, six to a page. The page numbers below are the ones printed on the contents page of the book.

How to start

The first moves, explained step by step.

Right after the rules of each chapter comes a page called Your first moves, on pages 4, 26, 45 and 64. It takes the example puzzle of that chapter and shows three moves, each with a drawing, a name and the reason it works. New marks are orange, so you can see what changed in each step.

These are the three steps for Hashi, on page 26:

Count the bridges. Count the most bridges an island could get: two to each neighbor. The 3 at the bottom left has two neighbors, so at most 4 bridges fit, and it needs 3. Even two bridges to all neighbors but one would give only 2, so every neighbor gets at least one bridge.
Two 1s never join. A bridge between two 1s would finish both islands and cut them off from the rest, so it is never allowed. Each of these 1s now has only one neighbor left, and its bridge goes there.
Keep counting. Every bridge you draw uses up part of two numbers. Check each island again: when the neighbors it can still reach can only just give it what it needs, draw those bridges.

The other chapters do the same. Nonogram: Full lines first, Lines that fit exactly, Use what you know. Kakuro: Sums with only one combination, Where runs cross, Fill in what is left. Slitherlink: Start with the 0s, A 3 next to a 0, Two 3s side by side.

One solution

Hard to see, not hard to guess.

Our program builds every puzzle, and a solver checks that exactly one answer fits before the puzzle goes into the book. Each Nonogram picture can be solved line by line, without guessing.

The puzzles are new for this book: none of them is in our other puzzle books or in our free daily puzzles.

Printing

A page as it prints.

Choose the A4 or the US Letter file to match your paper and print at 100 percent or Actual size. The puzzle pages are black and white with a little orange. Only the cover is in full color, so you can skip page 1 to save ink.

A pencil and an eraser help, as the book itself says on page 2.

How do I download it?

After Etsy confirms your payment, download the files from Purchases and reviews on Etsy.com in a web browser. Downloads are not available in the Etsy app. If you bought as a guest, use the download link in your Etsy receipt e-mail. It is a digital download only, so nothing is shipped.

Which files do I get?

Two PDF files: ARLing-Halloween-Logic-Puzzle-Book-A4.pdf and ARLing-Halloween-Logic-Puzzle-Book-US-Letter.pdf, 91 pages each. It is the same book in two paper sizes, as plain PDF files, not a ZIP.

How do I print it?

Can I get my money back?

If a file is faulty or not as described, we put it right.
